AND FIRST AT NOON, TWO TEENS, CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO A DEADLY SHOOTING IN ANDERSON, WERE DENIED BOND IN COURT. OUR DANA GRIFFIN JOINS US OUTSIDE THE COURTHOUSE WITH MORE. DANA: IT WAS AN EMOTIONAL DAY IN COURT, THE TEENS RACING ATTEMPTED MURDER CLAIM THE SHOOTING WAS SELF-DEFENSE. 18-YEAR-OLD ZACHARY TOST AND 17-YEAR-OLD CARLOS JIMENEZ BOTH SHED TEARS IN FRONT OF THE JUDG BOTH FACE FOUR COUNTS OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND WEAPONS CHARGES. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED MONDAY NIGHT AT BELTON WOODS APARTMENTS. 23-YEAR-OLD DANIEL JIMENEZ, CARLOS’ BROTHER, WAS SHOT AND KILLED. THE TEENS ARE ACCUSED OF SHOOTING INTO A VEHICLE WITH 4 PEOPLE INSIDE. Two teenagers were charged early Wednesday in connection with a shooting at the Belton Woods Apartment Complex in Anderson. Zachary Tost, 18, of Honea Path and Carlos Jimenez, 17, of Belton, face charges of attempted murder and assault, Anderson Police Capt. Mike Aikens said.Tost and Jimenez appeared in court Wednesday morning at a bond hearing.Daniel Jimenez, 23, was killed in the shooting, according to the coroner. Carlos is Daniel Jimenez' brother, according to prosecutors.One other person was shot and has been released from the hospital. Police have not released that victim's name. Court documents show Tost and Jimenez fired shots into a car with four people inside around 9:30 p.m. Monday. It is unclear if anyone in the car was injured.So far, no one is charged in the death of Daniel Jimenez.During the bond hearing, the teens broke down in tears, telling the judge that the shooting was in self-defense.Tost's mother also appeared in court with her son.She told the judge that her son was shot and that he was also the victim.They pleaded with the judge to grant bond, assuring the judge that he was not a flight risk.The judge denied bond to both teens.Investigators told WYFF News 4's Dana Griffin that the two teens and the victim were the aggressors in the shooting.They don’t anticipate any additional arrests, which contradicts the teen’s self-defense claim.
