ZIIP Halo: A Review of the Nano Microcurrent Skincare Device (2024)

*This post contains PR item from ZIIP Beauty. Please see the end of the post for more details.

Regarding my skincare, I will always opt for safe, non-invasive treatments over anything else. Anything that involves a needle going near my face is a no-go. Beauty and skincare devices always intrigue me. I often wonder if they actually work and claim to do everything it says on the box. I've tried quite a few skincare devices over the years, all benefitting my skin in some form or another. When ZIIP Beauty got in touch with me about their ZIIP Halo, I couldn't resist trying another skincare device!

First things first, who is ZIIP Beauty?

ZIIP Beauty was founded in 2015 by Melanie Simon and David Mason. They introduced the first-ever app-connected device, the ZIIP GX. Fast forward to 2024, we now have the ZIIP Halo.

Let's move on to the device, the ZIIP Halo...

What is the ZIIP Halo?

The ZIIP Halo is a *handheld beauty skincare device that rejuvenates the skin, giving it a more lifted, sculpted, smoother, and glowy look.

It is the only skincare device on the market that uses both Nanocurrent and Microcurrent Dual Waveform Technology to bring long-lasting results.

What are Nanocurrents and Microcurrents?

The ZIIP Halo allows the Nanocurrent and Microcurrent to work harmoniously for immediate, long-lasting results. Both currents aim to treat skin issues such as wrinkles, sagging skin, blemishes, pigmentation and poor texture.

The Nanocurrent stimulates the skin's collagen and regulates the skin's cells. The Nanocurrent is in sync with the electrical impulses sent from your brain to your skin, which facilitates renewal and repair.

The Microcurrent provides an immediate lift, smoother lines and contoured appearance that lasts up to 72 hours. Microcurrent waves work on a muscular level by stimulating the muscles to contract and relax. Pretty much like if you were doing a workout!

Let's do a rundown of the ZIIP Halo:

What comes in the box?

The box comes with the ZIIP Halo, Electric Complex Gel (50ml), USB-C charging cable and a user manual.

Do I need to install the ZIIP Beauty app?

You can use the ZIIP Halo anywhere and at any time without using the app. If you use the Halo without the app, the device will carry out a powerful and effective 4-minute freeform facial using both Nanocurrents and Microcurrents.

However, if you're looking for a more structured, more specific facial, it's recommended that you download the free app. The app has many treatment plans tailored for your skins needs. The founder of ZIIP, Melanie, will guide you through each treatment. The shortest treatment is 2 minutes and the longest is 12 minutes.

Do I need to use the conductive gel that comes with the device?

Yes, you must use the gel (the box comes with the Electric Complex gel) when using the Halo. The gel ensures proper transmission of the currents from the device to your skin. It makes sure that you get a comfortable and smooth experience while using the Halo.

ZIIP also sell other gels to suit your skin's needs, these include:

  • Golden Gel - Best for a collagen boost
  • Crystal Gel - Best for a glow boost
  • Silver Gel - Best for a hydration boost

How do I use the ZIIP Halo?

Before using the ZIIP Halo, you MUST do a sensitivity test. To do this, you must apply a thumbnail-sized amount of the Electric Complex gel to the treatment area (cheek or chin area etc) and spread it evenly. Then you switch on the device and move it in small circular motions on the gel for around 3 minutes. After this, wait 48 hours to ensure your skin is ok afterwards. As long as your skin doesn't react badly, you can start a full treatment after this period.

To use the ZIIP Halo:

1) Wash your face to clean your skin from dirt or bacteria.

2) Scroll through the ZIIP app and choose your desired treatment.

3) Turn on the device to sync the desired treatment to the device. The ZIIP Halo will beep/flash 3 times when successfully synced.

3) Apply 9-10 pumps of the Electric Complex Gel. Before beginning your chosen treatment, Melanie will tell you which area to apply the gel to.

4) Simply follow Melanie's guidance on the video and let the device work its magic!

5) Once the treatment is complete, wash the remaining gel from your skin and wipe down the device with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Does the ZIIP Halo hurt while in use?

You may feel a very slight tingling/buzz and even a slight warmth, but it's painless! Also, if you have a laser or injectable procedure, it is recommended that you don't use the device for 10 days after the procedure.

How often do I need to use the ZIIP Halo for best results?

It is recommended that the ZIIP Halo should be used 3-5 times a week to see results.

How much does the ZIIP Halo cost?

The device costs $399.00. The gels range from $29-$129.

What is your favourite treatment to do?

My favourite treatments are:

  • Jowls - Defines the jawline and tighten the jowl area
  • Contour - Gives definition exactly where you want it
  • Lips - Helps to achieve a plumped-up looking pout
  • Founders Favourite - An expert level facial

What are your thoughts after using the ZIIP Halo for 4 weeks?

Let's split this into a pros and cons list:

Pros

  • Time efficient. You can easily do a treatment at the start of the day or before going to bed.
  • It's super easy to use.
  • The treatments are super easy to follow on the app.
  • It's a rechargeable battery, so no faffing with trying to find the nearest plug socket.
  • Great battery life.
  • I've already started seeing remarkable results.
  • It's painless.

Cons

  • The gel isn't cheap and it's not a huge bottle. So if you're applying 9-10 pumps of the gel with every treatment, it's not going to last an awful long time.
  • The USB cable that came with my device didn't work. Thankfully, I had a USB cable with the same end that could fit into the device. That was just an unlucky incident.
  • The price. It's a hefty investment.

Here's my summary:

The ZIIP Halo has been a godsend for my skin. I started to see results almost instantaneously, which is a miracle in itself! Honestly, even after one use, I noticed I had a little more definition in my face and my jawline looked more contoured.

Now that I have used the device for over 4 weeks, I'm noticing more changes. For example, I'm noticing a glowy look to my skin and it feels plumper than before.

I know that if I keep using the device consistently, I will begin to see even better results than I already have done.

The Electric Complex gel is lightweight and rubs well into my skin. One thing I would recommend is to wear a headband or make sure your hair is up off your face when during treatment. If the gel gets in your hair, it can make it go greasy rather quickly. As I said, the gel may not last an awful long time, but I've been using it for over 4 weeks now and it's not empty yet, so that's good at least.

I just love that the device is so easy to use and the individual treatments are so quick! It's easily done before the start of your day! Or if you're busy, you can complete a treatment before going to bed.

I know the price tag is a bit hefty, but when you think of it, the amount you would pay to have this kind of treatment done professionally, it's an investment that would save you a lot of money.

Would I recommend the ZIIP Halo?

Yes I would! It's a remarkable device, it's been a godsend of an addition to my skincare routine. I have started seeing results already, which is fantastic! And I know that the more I use the device, the better results I will see.

My skincare routine has been given an upgrade thanks to the ZIIP Halo!

As I said, I know the price tag is a bit steep, but I do have a discount code...
