As a Senior Signal and Sensor Modeling Engineer, you will work on a close-knit team to create advanced, physics-based modeling solutions in the DoD Space. You will develop key technologies in the EO/IR domain to help engineers grasp the most complex aspects of energy transport, enabling the design and test of tomorrow’s artificial intelligence algorithms and hardware solutions. You will deploy cutting-edge technologies, leveraging your software development skills and collaborating with your Signal and Sensor Modeling peers

This is an Onsite role in Tucson, ArizonaWhat You Will Do
- You will champion novel solutions for advanced modeling techniques.
- You will develop new C++ models in an extensible and maintainable fashion.
- You will deploy EO or RF phenomenology and advanced physics concepts in a software implementation.
- You will enable our customer’s success through adoption and utilization of modeling solutions.
- You will work efficiently inside an established software product, across programming , and build environments.
- You will research and develop novel EO or RF modeling solutions.
- You will coordinate with multiple development teams to prioritize and solve complex software and physics problems.
- You will mentor and share EO or RF expertise with your team.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and five (5) years or more of documented work and/or academic experience in the following areas:
- Experience programming in C++, C, or other high order
- Experience applying object-oriented software design
- Experience using MATLAB or Python for evaluation of data sets
- Experience with UNIX/Linux or Apple OS or Windows DOS command line
- Experience in electro-optics or in radar processing
- Experience with Imaging EO/IR/RF systems, energy transport, or radar physics, signal processing or discrimination algorithms
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related STEM degree
- Experience with OpenGL, CUDA, or other GPU accelerated /architectures
- Experience with Real-time Programming
- Experience with AI/ML and training techniques
- Experience with other Scene / Sensor Modeling technologies
- Experience with software change management tools and processes
- Experience using and augmenting Build Systems (Make/CMake)
- Experience working with large production software environment
- Experience with and ability to interface with adjacent engineering disciplines (Signal Processing, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering)
- Electronic warfare modeling
- Course work or experience in signal & image processing, digital communications, or estimation theory
- Experience developing signal processing algorithms for missile applications
- Current Department of Defense Clearance

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term , long-term , 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
